The first car in the When We Were Young train set, designed by Gabriele Stamey, introduced in 1998, retired in 2003.

Measuring 1 5/8" long, the Locomotive is fully faceted clear crystal. It has a hole where the next train car would connect to it. Unlike the other train cars in the series, it does not have any metal hooking devices on the front or rear.
