The 1991 Annual Edition Christmas Ornament was the first issue in the series of Annual Edition Star and Snowflake Christmas Ornaments that continues to this date.
Designed by Hilde Nagler, the clear faceted crystal ornament is about 2 1/2" in diameter and features eight long points.
It has the year of issue etched onto the center stone, rather than on a metal tag with the year as in later years. The ornament comes with a burgundy coloured ribbon for hanging on the tree or an ornament display.
This 1991 Christmas Ornament is the US / Canadian version, with a silver toned metal hanger, whereas the European version had a gold toned metal hanger.
The ornament was issued with a square burgundy box and COA. This is the only ornament in the series that we've seen packaged in a square box.
The certificate is from "The Giftware Suite" and says "Distributed by Swarovski Canada Limited". Bilingual, of course, in English on one side and in French on the reverse side.
The box lid simply states "1991 Christmas Ornament" with a graphic of a tree, with no information provided as to brand or distributor.
